Terence Ching, PhD (he/him) is a licensed clinical psychologist and associate research scientist in the Department of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine, and a part-time clinician at West Rock Wellness. At Yale, Terence co-leads the development and conduct of psilocybin clinical trials for OCD and other indications as part of the Yale OCD Research Clinic, the Emerging and Novel Applications for Consciousness-Altering Therapeutics (ENACT) Lab, and the Yale Program for Psychedelic Science. In these trials, Terence also leads the training and supervision of facilitators who work with study participants in psychedelic sessions. At West Rock Wellness, Terence offers clinical services for various mental health problems. Terence also has significant consulting experience in various aspects of psychedelic research and practice.
Treatment Approach
Terence approaches psychotherapy from an evidence-based, integrative, and culturally attuned perspective. Terence has specific expertise in integrative cognitive-behavior therapy and ketamine-assisted therapy for obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and trauma- and stressor-related disorders.
Background
Terence received his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Connecticut. Prior to moving to the United States, Terence received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in psychology from the National University of Singapore. Terence has completed clinical training in a variety of settings, including the University of Connecticut, the Institute of Living, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and the Connecticut Mental Health Center. Additionally, Terence served as a study therapist in clinical trials of MDMA-Assisted Therapy (MDMA-AT) for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). Terence is also a MAPS-certified psychedelic therapist in the MDMA-AT for PTSD Expanded Access Program.
