Enock Bulagulwa Teefe, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist and postdoctoral research fellow at Yale University. He brings over a decade of combined experience in clinical psychiatry, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and neuroscience research. At West Rock Wellness, Dr. Teefe offers thoughtful, person-centered care that integrates biological insight with psychological depth. His work is guided by a deep respect for the emotional lives of his patients and a commitment to healing that honors both scientific knowledge and personal narrative.
Treatment Approach
Dr. Teefe specializes in psychodynamically informed psychiatric care, often working with individuals navigating complex emotional experiences, relational challenges, and questions of meaning and identity. His approach is integrative, combining medication management when appropriate with depth-oriented psychotherapy that encourages reflection, curiosity, and emotional exploration.
Clinically, he is drawn to working with people who may feel caught between different cultural expectations, identities, or personal histories. Additionally, he has a wealth of experience supporting young professionals as they navigate burnout, identity formation, and emotional growth. His style is warm, collaborative, and attuned to the unspoken dimensions of the therapeutic relationship. He values openness, mutual respect, and the slow unfolding of insight through a sustained therapeutic process.
Background
Dr. Teefe was born in Masaka, Uganda and raised between East Africa and the United States. His early life was shaped by experiences of separation, migration, and cultural adaptation—elements that continue to inform his interest in belonging, memory, and the complexities of identity. He holds degrees in bioengineering and medicine from UCLA and Chicago Medical School, and completed his psychiatry residency at Yale. He is currently in psychoanalytic training and sees psychotherapy as both a vocation and a way of life. Outside of work, he enjoys running, music, traveling, reading, and delicious food.
