Ecstatic Dance

Ecstatic Dance is a freeform movement meditation. Participants are invited to release themselves to the music and journey through a variety of rhythms. This practice can help people cope with stress, process and release emotions, and connect with themselves and others. Some dancers can enter into a music-induced trance state, which can lead to feelings of ecstasy and serenity. Some see it as an opportunity to be present and drop into their body. Others just really love sashaying around the dance floor in an accepting environment with fellow free spirits 🙂

Feel free to bring sacred or personally meaningful objects to place on the altar.

-Guidelines: no shoes, no booze, and no chit-chat in the dance space. Feel free to sing or make noises. Talking and conversations are reserved for the hallway. This is a no-phone, device-free dance space. No photos or videos, please. Please be sure to get consent whenever you wish to dance with another. Prayer hands with a bow or hands on the heart are suggested to communicate a “no, thank you!”
