About the event
Health Masculinity Mens Group: Challenging what it means to be Man Enough.
Ever wanted a space to share your experiences as a man with others who might understand? Would you like to learn how to challenge the limitations placed on us by society and collaboratively discover what being man enough means?
Come join a 6-part peer support men's group where we will explore the limitations of the man box and work to support one another towards becoming healthier men from the inside out. Hosted by masculinity researcher, Dr. Jay Taylor, DSW from Fairfield University who has traveled the country facilitating conversations on healthy masculinity with men from all walks of life in hopes of liberating men and creating a safer world for all.
Jay Taylor is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Fairfield University and leads many conversations throughout the country entitled Breaking out of the Manbox , an exploration of the messages that society sends us about manhood, masculinity, relationships, and sex. The socialization of men has impacted the way popular culture and the media define the roles of men and women and contributes to a culture of violence. Jay pushes us to break down and challenge these stereotypes and allow each other to be our authentic selves. Fostering healthy masculinity creates a safer space for all in a world where all men and boys are loving and respectful, and all women and girls are valued and safe.
