About the event
Come join us for a day of self-discovery and communion through art and movement with artist,
Susan Clinard and drama therapist, Alicia Stevens! For the first half of the day, we will use clay
for exploration and expression through sculpting. For the second part of the day, our bodies will
be the medium of exploration and expression through dramatic play. It will be fun, it will be
silly, it will be messy, it will be irreverent, and it will be sacred. - West Rock Wellness
When pushing, lifting, and carving clay we use no words. Our tactile senses are awakened, and
the heart is engaged. I have experienced thirty years of artmaking and teaching to a wide range
of people in our communities and repeatedly I have witnessed the emergence of student’s
unique expression and self-discovery. - Susan
Â
Our bodies, like clay, are shaped by our lived experiences. Our communities, families, and
childhood experiences influence how we think, feel, and relate to each other. Like working with
clay, moving our bodies - imagining, dancing, playing, pretending, stretching, laughing, pausing,
resting, and breathing, can awaken our senses. It can help us feel alive. As a body centered,
movement based and trauma informed therapist, I know that engaging our bodies, and finding
play is central to healing and transformation. - Alicia
