About the event

Yin/Restorative with Artemis | 6-7:15pm on Thursdays

Melt into dreamy spaciousness in this all-level class that begins with Yin Yoga and gradually unfurls into a deep Restorative Yoga practice. Yin Yoga uses gravity, the breath, and longer held poses (3-5 minutes each) to encourage our connective tissue to release tension as well as blocked/stored emotion. Restorative Yoga is a practice of deep relaxation that uses props such as blankets, bolsters, and blocks to help support the body in long-held gentle postures that encourage deep rest and release. Yin and Restorative are quiet, consensual conversations with the body. If at any time during class you find yourself forcing your body into a pose, you are no longer doing yin or restorative yoga. The key is to work with where your body is at any given moment, not to force it to be where it is not. Each class will offer modification options for each unique pose to help you meet your body where it is that day.

Drop-In : $20 Venmo @westrockwellness or cash at the door. Please bring your own mat.

Artemis Wylde (they/she) 500RYT

Artemis began a yoga asana practice in their late teens. Just a few years later, they started to deepen and expand that practice in response to their experience with chronic pain. Over the years, the yogic practice of acknowledging discomfort as a guide and teacher has transformed them to their core. After several years of delving into a personal practice, Artemis took a 200 hour yoga teacher training with Adrea Robles and Dave Robles of Liberation Yoga and Wellness Center followed by a 300 hour Advanced YTT with Johanna Bell of Illumina Yoga in the lineage of Sri Dharma Mittra. They have also trained with Biff Mithoefer in the art of teaching yin yoga and apprenticed with Adrea Robles in the craft of teaching Restorative Yoga.

Artemis’ personal practice and teaching approach are grounded in the intentional release of self-judgment, the practice of self-compassion, the art of learning from discomfort, and the belief that yoga is a practice for any body, any mind, any soul. They encourage students to lovingly accept their minds and bodies as they are in the present moment. In their classes, Artemis strives to create a container where people can be honest, vulnerable, and gentle with themselves, explore their edges, laugh with one another, and tap into a deep sense of community.
