Alicia Stephen, MA, RDT
Senior Clinician

I specialize in working with individuals, couples and families who have been impacted by trauma, abuse and neglect.

My work honors the intelligence of the body, the imagination, and

the nervous system. I love supporting my clients find meaningful, aesthetic, and playful ways to explore painful, dark and traumatic experiences.

We all need a place to vent, cry or laugh about our traumatic experiences without being shamed, silenced, or judged for how it impacts us and how we choose to heal from it.

My direct and playful approach does not avoid the truth about people's lived experiences but moves toward it - heart open. â€‹

I recognize that trauma profoundly impacts the body and can affect our overall health, often leading to tension, pain, anxiety, depression, rage, isolation, loneliness, dissociation or more.

Through somatic techniques, drama therapy, and movement therapy, I help clients reconnect with their bodies and facilitate healing on intellectual, emotional, physical and somatic dimensions.

I have experience working with adults and children who have been impacted by rape, incest, neglect, poverty, starvation, war, millitary combat based trauma, gun violence, early childhood neglect and various forms of physical, emotional, financial or spiritual abuse.

As a therapist my style is both warm and direct. We would work well together if you like a being held while also being challenged.

My training includes a masters in Counseling Psychology with a focus in body based practices including Movement, Art, Somatics and Drama Therapy.
